Roots & Wings | Performance Intensive with Philippa Moirai & Gudrun Herold
Building on more than twelve years of shared stage experience with the Dance Sisters Collectiive, Philippa & Gudrun invite you to dive into a new creative journey. Well known for their joyful Kindred Skirts Dialect and dynamic approach to FCBD® Style, they bring both passion and precision to Roots & Wings – a performance project that celebrates connection and creativity.
This intensive is designed for Intermediate to Advanced FCBD® Style dancers who wish to expand their performance experience and be part of a large stage set. Dramatic stage formations and dynamic transitions will be explored, using improvisational choreography rooted in FCBD® vocabulary and the vibrant energy of Skirt work.
In a focused 4-hour session, a selected group of dancers will work closely with Philippa & Gudrun to shape a cohesive and visually captivating theatre piece, with an emphasis on group connection, stage awareness and flow.

What is a Performance Intensive?
A Performance Intensive is a focused dance experience that combines training, creativity, and the excitement of performing on stage. It’s a guided process that takes dancers from preparation to a complete stage piece.
Before the Festival
Depending on the teacher, participants may receive short video material (sequences or technique tips) to study in advance, or they may start everything directly at the festival. Some projects rely on choreography, others on group exploration and improvisation.
During the Festival
Dancers meet in person to shape and refine the piece together, working closely under the teacher’s direction in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Final Performance
The project culminates in a live performance during the Gala Show (Saturday 23) or the Open Stage (Sunday 24)—a shared moment of creativity and celebration.
Support & Communication
Each project has a dedicated Facebook group where participants receive updates, ask questions, and get styling and costume guidelines.
